WHAT IS TRAIL DOG RUNNING?
Trail Dog Running is a locally owned running company founded by two dedicated trail runners and their canine companions. We operate trail running races and events for anyone interested in running off the road. Don’t be fooled, the races ARE for humans, we just like the name.
HOW DOES A TRAIL RUN COMPARE TO A ROAD RACE?
A trail race is just like a road race…except there are very few flat surfaces, no lines, usually no concrete, lots of trees, maybe a water crossing, a few hills, probably dirt and mud, probably bugs, usually no bears.
ARE DOGS ALLOWED?
We did have one race that dogs and their owners ran together on September 28, 2014. It was called the Wild Dog Dash 5K, and it was a lot of fun. 2018 doesn’t include that one, however… all our races are for runners with two legs (and no leashes!).
HOW DO I KNOW IF THIS TYPE OF RUNNING IS FOR ME?
Running is a personal experience; only you know what you’re capable of. Anyone can participate in any of our races, the challenges are different. The better question is what challenge are you looking for? We won’t leave you on the course and you might surprise yourself by trying something new.
ARE THE RACES TIMED?
Yes, the races are timed…awards are given to overall male and female winners as well as first place awards for age categories.
WHAT DO I GET?
Each runner will receive a race shirt, wooden nickels from West Bend Tap + Tavern, aid station supplies, finish line results and festivities, and a great course. We have a bunch of other prizes a swag planned as well…it’s all a part of the fun!
ARE THE RACES COMPETITIVE?
Yes and no, that’s up to you. For those that want to compete, we have age divisions and a male and female winner for each division. We will also crown an overall male and female winner. For those that just want to run a great course and have a great experience, well, it’s pretty win/win for you.
CAN FRIENDS AND FAMILY WATCH THE RACE?
All courses will have access points for spectators. Please refer to the maps and elevations page for points you can catch your runner along the journey. Spectators are not allowed on the courses at any time. Runner safety and personal safety is our utmost concern. Spectators on courses will be asked to leave the course. Get out there and cheer! Just don’t set your chair up in the middle of the course…
HOW DO I GET TO THE RACE?
Well, you could run. (Depending on how far away you live it might be a good warm up) Or, drive to the race site and park. The start line has plenty of parking; you’ll be in good shape. Refer to the race instructions for start line directions.
HOW CAN I REGISTER?
Registration for the 2018 Trail Series happens through UltraSignUp.com and can be accessed by clicking this link: Sign Me Up for the 2018 Lunatics Trail Series!
ARE THERE AID STATIONS?
Yes. Each race will have aid stations stocked with water, energy drink, fruits and snacks. The number of aid stations will depend on the distance of the race. Races will have stations at varying intervals. The longer races will have aid station captains in charge, and while we can guarantee you the essentials TDR is providing, each captain has promised to add a “personal touch” to the spread.
